Minister of Foreign Affairs Yusuf Maitama Tuggar conveyed that Nigeria’s partnership with China is focused on transitioning from exporting primary resources to exporting finished products. He shared these insights during the Forum on China-Africa Cooperation (FOCAC) in China, as seen in a video posted on his X account.

Tuggar explained that Nigeria aims to add value, create jobs, and boost manufacturing to enhance its exports. He stated, “There is no issue of exploitation because Nigeria is a mature partner. We understand what we need and seek partners like China who recognize our desire to move beyond exporting raw materials. Our goal is to add value, create jobs, and export finished products to markets like China.”

He further noted, “China is the largest market globally, and we believe they understand our aspirations. We are committed to forming strategic partnerships with countries that align with our vision for growth and development.”
