Fifteen Newly Elected LG Chairmen Sworn In By Plateau State GovernorPlateau State Governor Caleb Mutfwang has officially sworn in the newly elected chairmen of 15 Local Government Areas (LGAs) in the state. The swearing-in ceremony took place on Thursday night at the Langfield Resort in Jos, the state capital, shortly after the chairmen received their certificates of return from Mr. Plangji Cishak, the chairman of the Plateau State Independent Electoral Commission (PLASIEC). Of the 17 LGAs in Plateau State, candidates from the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) won in 15, with the results officially declared.

During the ceremony, Governor Mutfwang expressed gratitude to PLASIEC for conducting a credible, free, and fair local government election. He noted that the chairmen from Pankshin and Langtang North were excluded from the ceremony to uphold the integrity of the electoral process.

“PLASIEC has performed admirably. Even the devil in the depths knows this election took place. I am proud to inaugurate these chairmen with a clear conscience. Those who could not be sworn in today will be sworn in tomorrow, as we must adhere to all legal requirements. Whoever wins must be allowed to win,” the governor stated.

Mutfwang, a strong advocate for local government autonomy, emphasized his commitment to strengthening and enhancing the effectiveness of local governance in the state. He encouraged the chairmen to collaborate and work with his administration for the state’s development.

“I want to express my gratitude to the people for their ongoing support of my administration’s efforts to create a prosperous Plateau. I assure you that we will continue to improve every day,” the governor concluded.
