Hull City winger Sorba Thomas has escaped unhurt after his vehicle was involved in a serious-looking car accident near the club’s training ground in Cottingham in the early hours of Friday, September 11.

The 27-year-old Premier League player was involved in the incident on Millhouse Woods Lane, close to Hull City’s training base. Images circulating online showed a grey Land Rover Defender believed to be Thomas’ vehicle overturned with damaged windows, sparking concern among supporters.

According to Bush Radio Academy, Humberside Police confirmed that emergency services responded to the crash and that the road was closed while investigations into the incident continued.

Hull City subsequently reassured fans that Thomas was not injured, saying the winger emerged from the vehicle completely unscathed.

“The club is aware of images of Sorba’s car circulating on social media and can reassure supporters that he has sustained no injuries and emerged from his vehicle completely unscathed,” the club said in a statement.

Thomas recently joined Hull City from Stoke City after signing a four-year contract with the club. The transfer was completed for an undisclosed fee before the close of the transfer window, with the Wales international expected to remain at Hull until the summer of 2030.

The winger previously represented Wales at the 2022 FIFA World Cup in Qatar and has now avoided what could have been a major setback just weeks into his time with the newly promoted Premier League side.

Attention will now turn to whether Thomas will be available for Hull City’s upcoming Premier League fixture against Chelsea. Coach Sergej Jakirovic is yet to confirm whether the winger will feature in the match at Stamford Bridge.
