Former Imo Governor Ohakim Comments On Push For His Presidency In OhanaezeFormer Imo State Governor Ikedi Ohakim has denied any involvement in discussions regarding his potential appointment as the next President-General of the Ohanaeze Ndigbo, the leading Igbo socio-cultural organization.....KINDLY READ THE FULL STORY HERE▶

This statement follows the death of Emmanuel Iwuanyanwu, the former President-General, who passed away in July at the age of 82 after a brief illness.

In a statement released on Monday, Ohakim clarified that his focus is solely on honoring Iwuanyanwu’s memory and ensuring he receives a dignified farewell, rather than engaging in succession discussions.

He urged those circulating claims about his potential candidacy to stop spreading misinformation.

Ohakim stated, “I have been made aware of media reports linking me to efforts to install me as the next President-General of Ohanaeze Ndigbo. I want to be clear: I have no knowledge of any plans for my election or appointment, nor have I shown any interest in the position.”

He further urged those spreading what he termed “malicious disinformation” to refrain from politicizing the organization during this time of mourning, emphasizing the need for the community to reflect on Iwuanyanwu’s legacy, which fostered peace within Ohanaeze and the broader Igbo society.

“I reiterate: I have no involvement in or interest in the Ohanaeze Ndigbo presidency at this time,” he concluded.
