Following the resignations of Senator Abdullahi Adamu and Iyiola Omisore as APC’s former National Chairman and Secretary, respectively, the party is in need of replacements for these crucial roles. The Middle Belt elders of the APC, along with General Onoja, have endorsed Ganduje to succeed Adamu.

However, the endorsement comes with a caveat that Ganduje should serve in an acting capacity until a national convention can be conducted.

This support for Ganduje comes shortly after APC chairmen from seven states in the North-West and a Coalition of North-Central Leaders also expressed their backing for the former governor to take on the national chairman role.

While some party members are in favor of Ganduje as the preferred choice of President Bola Tinubu and APC governors, there are mixed feelings among party faithful.

Some argue that the prospective replacement for Adamu should come from Nasarawa State in line with the APC’s zoning arrangement. Nevertheless, General Onoja emphasized that it is a convention that will determine any readjustment in the party’s zoning formula.

The Middle Belt delegation, representing various elder groups of the party in the North-Central Zone, collectively endorsed Ganduje to lead the party in an acting capacity.

They expressed confidence in his ability to effectively steer the party until substantive leadership positions are filled at the next convention in accordance with the party’s constitution.

The group emphasized the importance of merit, quality, and continuity in leadership for the party’s success and Nigeria’s interest.
