Former Minister of Works, Adeseye Ogunlewe, has stated that the nomination of Nyesom Wike as a minister is a form of recognition for his crucial role in President Bola Tinubu’s ascent to power.

Despite being a former Governor of Rivers State under the opposition party, the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP), Wike supported Tinubu’s campaign, causing divisions within his own party.

This nomination has stirred controversy, but Ogunlewe defended it, emphasizing Wike’s significant contribution to the election outcome.

Ogunlewe also pointed out that other individuals who supported the All Progressives Congress (APC) during the election deserve similar nominations.

He cited ex-Governor Dave Umahi and Nasir El-Rufai as examples, praising Umahi’s infrastructure work in Ebonyi State and suggesting its potential for replication at the national level.

While encouraging the nominees to remain loyal to the party’s manifesto, Ogunlewe expressed confidence that Tinubu would not tolerate any misconduct from his cabinet members.

He urged the nominees to be prepared for hard work and dedication to their respective roles.
