Contrary to viral reports claiming that the Nyanya Divisional Police Headquarters was destroyed, the police clarified that only the checkpoint’s container compartment was burned. Four suspects—Mathias Jude, 29; Mohammad Ahmed, 23; Abba Jibril, 18; and Mohammad Haruna, 18—were apprehended for their attempt to vandalize the Tipper Garage Police Post.
Police spokesperson Josephine Adeh stated that FCT Commissioner of Police Benneth Igweh strongly condemns the destruction of public and police infrastructure during protests. She emphasized that anyone involved in such acts will face legal consequences while affirming that residents have the right to protest peacefully.
