A female corps member, reportedly serving in Lagos State, voiced her frustration in a TikTok video, lamenting the rising cost of food, transportation, and the general hardship in the country. She criticized Nigerians’ silence, urging people to speak up against poor governance.
“We should start calling out the government. For example, Tinubu, you are a terrible person. What are you doing to help our economy? If more Nigerians speak up about our struggles, maybe things will change,” she said in the viral video.
In a follow-up clip, the corps member alleged that the Lagos NYSC management had threatened her over her remarks.
Reacting to the situation, Mr Macaroni, via his handle, warned NYSC officials against intimidating the corps member.
“To the DG, Coordinators, and every NYSC official: You cannot threaten, intimidate, or victimize any corps member for expressing their opinion on the president’s performance. Every Nigerian, corper or not, has the right to hold leaders accountable!” he wrote.
Similarly, Omoyele Sowore, a former AAC presidential candidate, argued that the corps member simply stated a fact, not an insult. He also criticized the NYSC, claiming it had outlived its usefulness.
“Calling Bola Tinubu a terrible person/president is not an insult; it’s a fact. NYSC is no longer relevant—if it ever was—considering its deceptive origin and corrupt nature,” he wrote on .
