Fresh Crisis Hits Fury-Joshua Fight As Hearn And White Clash

The long-awaited Tyson Fury versus Anthony Joshua showdown has been thrown into fresh uncertainty following a public dispute between promoters Eddie Hearn and Dana White over their respective roles in the proposed December 11 fight in Cardiff.

According to Bush Radio Academy, Fury and Joshua had reached an agreement for the highly anticipated all-British heavyweight contest, but tensions escalated after White was named as one of the promoters expected to work on the event alongside Saudi boxing figure Turki Alalshikh.

The development reportedly angered Hearn, who has an existing agreement concerning Joshua and has objected to White’s involvement in the promotion of the bout.

White, whose Zuffa Boxing has the backing of Alalshikh, has defended his role while strongly criticising Hearn. Speaking to SunSport reporter Jack Figg, White accused Hearn of not helping the proposed fight and used strong language in attacking the British promoter.

The disagreement has further strained the relationship between the two boxing figures. Hearn had previously spoken positively about White’s role in building the UFC into a global sports organisation, but their relationship deteriorated after Zuffa Boxing entered the boxing business and signed Conor Benn, who had been promoted by Hearn’s Matchroom.

Tensions also increased after Hearn agreed a commercial and advisory deal with former UFC heavyweight champion Tom Aspinall, with White questioning the arrangement and its impact.

The dispute has now moved to the centre of the Fury-Joshua negotiations, with Hearn openly opposing White’s involvement. Hearn criticised White’s presence at the event and accused him of attempting to take credit for the proposed blockbuster.

White, however, has maintained that he intends to remain involved in the fight and has rejected suggestions that he would withdraw because of the disagreement.

The situation has also attracted comments from Fury, who reportedly blamed Hearn’s “ego” for the latest dispute and suggested that the fight had only a slim chance of taking place.

With Alalshikh reportedly continuing to back White’s involvement, uncertainty remains over whether the December 11 clash between Fury and Joshua will proceed as planned.
