Fresh Political V!olence Rocks Edo As NDC Office Is Attacked After Enugu K!ll!ng

Suspected thugs have attacked the secretariat of the Nigeria Democratic Congress (NDC) in Ikpoba-Okha Local Government Area of Edo State, with video footage showing property damaged during the incident.

According to Bush Radio Academy, the attack was reported on Wednesday, barely a week after an assault on the party’s campaign office in Enugu State, where one of its members, Nworie Christopher, was reportedly shot dead.

Christopher, who hailed from Affa in Udi Local Government Area of Enugu State, reportedly died from gunshot injuries sustained during an attack on October 10, 2026. The party said he was among its supporters allegedly attacked by armed thugs during a gathering at the campaign office of its governorship candidate, Christian Chinyeaka Ohaa, in Enugu GRA.

No death was reported in the latest incident in Edo State as of the time the attack was reported. However, footage circulating online showed damage to property at the NDC secretariat.

The incident has raised fresh concerns about political violence and the safety of party members as preparations for future elections continue.

Civil society organisations and political commentators have warned that repeated attacks on political party offices could undermine public confidence in the electoral process and threaten the credibility of future elections if urgent steps are not taken to address the situation.

In the video showing the vandalised secretariat, a woman blamed the ruling All Progressives Congress (APC) for the attack, although the allegation had not been independently established.

Referring to the earlier incident in Enugu, she said: “The last one happened in Enugu, where one person died. Now they have brought it to Edo. APC, your end is here.”

The latest attack adds to concerns over political tensions and alleged violence against opposition party members, with calls growing for authorities to investigate the incidents and ensure the protection of political organisations and their supporters.
