Billionaire businessman Femi Otedola has revealed a longstanding personal relationship with Lagos State Deputy Governor Obafemi Hamzat, disclosing that the two shared a bunk bed at boarding school 49 years ago.

According to Bush Radio Academy, Otedola made the revelation in a post on his X account on Monday after hosting a dinner in honour of Hamzat, who is the All Progressives Congress (APC) candidate for the 2027 Lagos State governorship election.

In his post, Otedola described Hamzat as a man of integrity and referred to him as the “incoming Governor of Lagos State,” expressing confidence in his political future.

“Yesterday, I hosted dinner in honour of @DrObafemiHamzat, the incoming Governor of Lagos State. A man of the highest integrity, with whom I shared a bunk bed at boarding school 49 years ago,” Otedola wrote.

The businessman praised Hamzat’s character, citing what he described as his honesty, sincerity, fairness and strong moral principles.

“My experience of his character over the years has been defined by his honesty, sincerity, fairness and strong moral principles,” he added.

The dinner was attended by prominent Nigerian business figures, including Aliko Dangote and Abdul Samad Rabiu.

Otedola’s remarks have drawn attention to his longstanding relationship with Hamzat as political activities gradually gather momentum ahead of the 2027 Lagos governorship election. However, his description of Hamzat as the incoming governor reflects his personal endorsement and does not determine the outcome of the election.
