Augustine Akpeji, a 26-year-old Nigerian DJ who has been blind since infancy due to eye cancer, shared his inspiring journey during a recent interview with The PUNCH. Speaking at a glaucoma awareness seminar in Ibadan, he emphasized his passion for music and DJing despite his visual impairment.
“I was four months old when cancer took my sight, but it didn’t take away my love for music,” Akpeji remarked. “I play various musical instruments and sing, challenging myself daily in the music industry.”
He highlighted his active presence on social media, where he engages like anyone else despite being completely blind. Akpeji’s story underscores resilience and determination, encouraging others facing similar challenges to pursue their passions without limits.
