Jake Paul, who has gained prominence in the boxing world with a string of high-profile fights, disclosed that Anthony Joshua stopped speaking to him after issuing a stern warning. Paul interpreted this fallout as a potential buildup to a future clash in the ring.
Speaking to SunSport, the 28-year-old American shared the last message he received from Joshua:
“He said, ‘I can’t wait to fight. You’re gonna be fighting for your life, and you’ll know the feeling that I’ve gone through.’ Or something like that.”
Despite the threat, Paul remains undeterred and even excited about the idea of squaring off against AJ, who is still recovering from a knockout loss to fellow Brit Daniel Dubois.
Paul, who earlier this year defeated legendary boxer Mike Tyson in a blockbuster bout watched by over 100 million on Netflix, said he looks forward to facing Joshua—especially on British soil.
“My first fight was in front of an English crowd and it’s rowdy,” Paul remarked.
“I love walking into the lions’ den. Me versus Anthony Joshua, with 100,000 people chanting ‘f*** Jake Paul,’ would be pretty fun.”
As Joshua focuses on regaining full fitness, Paul returned to the ring on Sunday, claiming victory over former middleweight champion Julio Cesar Chavez Jr. on points.
“I think it’s back to the drawing board after this,” he added.
“Depending on what the WBC and WBA decide, if I’m ranked in a spot to fight for a world title—we’re going for it.”
