Fubara Is The Biggest Loser!” Wike Reveals Those He Says Misled Rivers Governor

Minister of the Federal Capital Territory (FCT), Nyesom Wike, has alleged that some close associates of Rivers State Governor Siminalayi Fubara gave him poor political advice, which he believes worsened the prolonged crisis that rocked the state.

Wike made the remarks on Saturday during a media chat in Port Harcourt, where he identified former Speaker of the Rivers State House of Assembly, Edison Ehie, Chijioke Ihunwo, Victor Oko Jumbo and activist Ankio Briggs as individuals he claimed influenced the governor’s decisions throughout the political dispute.

According to the former Rivers governor, the advice Fubara received from those around him contributed to the breakdown of agreements reached after President Bola Tinubu intervened to broker peace between the rival camps.

Wike alleged that the governor drifted away from the terms of the settlement because of the influence of his advisers.

Expressing sympathy for Fubara, the FCT minister said the governor emerged as the biggest casualty of the political conflict.

“I feel sorry for Governor Siminalayi Fubara because he is the biggest loser in this crisis. Edison Ehie, Chijioke Ihunwo, Victor Oko Jumbo and Ankio Briggs misled him with the advice they gave,” Wike said.

He further argued that the counsel offered by the governor’s associates negatively affected the political situation in Rivers State and undermined the implementation of the peace agreement reached through President Tinubu’s intervention.

According to Wike, Fubara ultimately bore the greatest consequences of the prolonged political standoff.

The political rift between Wike and Fubara, his successor as governor of Rivers State, triggered months of instability and deep divisions within the state’s political landscape.

The crisis eventually resulted in the declaration of a state of emergency in Rivers State, during which Fubara was suspended from office for six months.

Although the governor later defected to the All Progressives Congress (APC), he was unable to secure the party’s governorship ticket for another term.

Fubara recently announced his return to Wike’s political camp, bringing an end to their prolonged public fallout.
