Fuel Crisis Deepens: Full List Of States Where Petrol Is Costliest Revealed

The National Bureau of Statistics (NBS) revealed on Wednesday that Imo, Jigawa, and Sokoto States recorded the highest retail petrol prices in April 2025.....KINDLY READ THE FULL STORY HERE▶

According to the NBS report, residents of Imo State paid an average of ₦1,588.50 per litre, followed by Jigawa at ₦1,567.84, and Sokoto at ₦1,550.00.

This represents a shift from March 2025, when Jigawa, Kaduna, and Cross River States had the steepest pump prices, with ₦1,700, ₦1,650.00, and ₦1,563.86 per litre, respectively.

The data was published in the NBS’s monthly report on Premium Motor Spirit (PMS), commonly known as petrol.

In terms of state-by-state breakdown, Imo State topped the chart with the highest average retail price, while Yobe (₦970.00), Kwara (₦1,014.85), and Osun (₦1,042.49) recorded the lowest petrol prices in April.

Regionally, the South East had the highest zonal average at ₦1,341.71, while the South West posted the lowest average at ₦1,138.64.

On a broader scale, the national average petrol price in April 2025 was ₦1,239.33, reflecting a 76.73% increase compared to April 2024’s ₦701.24. However, it marked a 1.77% drop from the ₦1,261.65 recorded in March 2025.
