However, the ADC leadership has clarified that it is still awaiting an official update from its internal coalition committee regarding the ongoing deliberations.

The decision reportedly emerged from a meeting held on Tuesday night, where opposition figures reached a consensus to rally under the ADC banner for the upcoming electoral contest.

According to Bloomberg, sources familiar with the meeting held on May 20 in Abuja disclosed that participants agreed on using the ADC as the coalition’s political vehicle.

ADC National Chairman, Okey Nwosu, confirmed his party’s involvement in these talks. Speaking to the Daily Sun on Wednesday, Nwosu said the party has been in active discussions with Atiku, Obi, and other key opposition parties and figures about building a formidable coalition ahead of 2027.

He said:

“The ADC has always been a coalition-driven party. Back in 2018, President Olusegun Obasanjo directed civil society groups supporting him to adopt ADC as the transformational platform. Now, if today’s patriots are aligning with us again, it reflects the core character of our party—working with patriotic Nigerians to rescue the country.”

Nwosu revealed that engagements are ongoing with virtually all opposition parties and civil society groups, adding that within days, the outcome of these efforts will become clearer.

“Like us, other political parties are also in discussions. But we want to lead a coalition of opposition parties, civil society, and citizens to create a path for Nigerians to reclaim their country,” he added.

He further noted that while he isn’t directly part of the coalition committee, the ADC has two active teams led by Dr. Bamidele Ajadi and Dr. Mani Ibrahim Ahmad, who are expected to present a formal briefing on the progress of discussions soon.
