During an assessment visit to the State High Court, Governor Yusuf expressed his concerns about the missing case files. He was shown around the court by Attorney General and Commissioner of Justice Haruna Isah Dederi, Chief Registrar Abdullahi Ado Bayero, and other high court judges.
In response, Ganduje, through his Chief Press Secretary Edwin Olofu, accused Yusuf of trivializing governance and dismissed his claims as mere propaganda. Ganduje asserted that no reasonable person would believe that protesters selectively stole documents from a court in the digital age. He also alleged that Yusuf’s government may have funded the protests and called for a federal investigation into the incident.
Ganduje’s statement read: “It is absurd to suggest that in this day and age, protesters could break into a court and meticulously remove specific documents related to the trial of the APC National Chairman. This claim is nothing more than an attempt by Governor Yusuf’s administration to distract from their own failures and alleged involvement in the violence that occurred.”
He continued, “The notion that crucial documents could be stolen during a protest is not only implausible but also highlights the state’s growing incompetence in handling security and legal matters. It is evident that Governor Yusuf’s administration is struggling with governance and is resorting to deflecting blame onto others.”
Ganduje also noted that Yusuf had previously expressed support for the protest, which, according to Ganduje, was mismanaged and led to unforeseen violence. He urged the federal government and security agencies to investigate the Kano State Government’s role in the unrest, emphasizing the need for justice to prevent such incidents in the future
