Speaking at an event on Friday, Ganduje noted that education becomes more effective and accessible for people with special needs when supported with the right technological gadgets. He urged governors across Northern Nigeria to channel more resources into disability inclusion as a strategy to reduce the growing issue of street begging in the region.
The event, which brought together education experts, government officials, staff, alumni, and students of Tudun Maliki Special School in Kano, also featured a keynote address by the school’s Vice Principal, Ibrahim Abdukabir, focusing on the impact of the “Let’s Talk Humanity Initiative.” Ganduje stressed that investing in human capital, particularly persons with disabilities, could bring significant positive change to society.
He lamented the neglect faced by physically challenged individuals, saying it often affects their confidence and sense of belonging. According to him, targeted interventions and inclusive programmes would help restore their dignity and enable them to contribute meaningfully to society. Ganduje added that with proper support, persons with disabilities could become self-reliant, employers of labour, and even excel as innovators and professionals in various fields.
