Umar Abdullahi Umar, son of the National Chairman of the All Progressives Congress (APC), Abdullahi Umar Ganduje, has outlined his plans subsequent to receiving an appointment from President Bola Ahmed Tinubu.
President Tinubu designated Umar as the Executive Director of Technical Services at the Rural Electrification Agency (REA) three weeks ago.
Speaking at a gathering organized by party supporters and well-wishers in Kano to commemorate the appointment, Umar, who had been abroad, assured Tinubu and the party leadership of his commitment to fulfill the entrusted responsibility. He underscored his engineering background and pledged tangible contributions to the agency’s endeavors.
“While I was away in Ghana with the party National Chairman on an assignment related to party affairs, I couldn’t respond to all your calls and messages. However, upon our return, the Minister of Power summoned us to address recent electricity supply issues in the country. We are now back to work,” he stated.
Expressing gratitude to the President for the opportunity extended to him as a youth and engineer, Umar affirmed his dedication to delivering on the mandate bestowed upon him. He pledged swift action to significantly enhance power supply nationwide.
“I want to thank the President for this opportunity. I assure you that I will not disappoint him or you. We are fully prepared to fulfill the responsibilities entrusted to us. Soon, we will ensure a substantial improvement in power supply across the nation. I extend my appreciation to our father, the National Chairman of the party, for his support. Rest assured, he continues to advocate for many of you; your names are on various lists,” Umar stated, as reported by Daily Trust.
The iftar dinner was attended by former commissioners, agency heads, supporters from the state, and well-wishers.
It is worth noting that Ganduje’s son previously contested the House of Representatives seat in 2023 but was unsuccessful.
