Gang Warfare Claims Lives Of Bandits Responsible For Abduction Of Kaduna Students

A notorious bandit leader, Kachalla Sharme, known for terrorizing communities in Kaduna State, has been killed in a clash between rival gangs. The clash, which occurred on Saturday, resulted in the deaths of two other bandits, while five more sustained serious injuries. Aruwan noted that Sharme’s gang was responsible for numerous attacks, killings, and kidnappings in Kaduna and neighboring states, including the abduction of 121 students from Bethel Baptist High School in Kujama on July 5, 2021.

Security forces had been actively pursuing Sharme, who had managed to evade capture multiple times. Aruwan highlighted the significance of his death as a major win in the ongoing battle against banditry in the North-West region. He stated, “After diligent follow-up operations and the use of extensive human intelligence networks, we can report that the notorious bandit commander Kachalla Tukur Sharme and other bandits have been killed in a fratricidal clash.”

He further explained that the violent encounter not only eliminated Sharme but also allowed some kidnapped victims to escape. Five injured bandits are reportedly still in the area, seeking medical attention.

Sharme had been implicated in a series of violent crimes, including numerous killings, kidnappings, and cattle rustling in various communities such as Millennium City, Maraban Rido, and Kajuru, as well as in neighboring states like Katsina and Niger. His actions have left a significant impact on the region’s security situation.

In light of the recent violence, the state government urged residents of Rijana, Kaso, Kajuru, and surrounding areas to remain vigilant and to avoid aiding any suspicious individuals seeking treatment for gunshot wounds. Instead, they were advised to promptly inform local security forces or contact the Kaduna State Security Operations Room if such cases arise.
