Prof. Mojisola Adeyeye, the agency’s Director-General, announced this on Wednesday, stating that the items were confiscated from six states in the North East region. Represented by Mr. Kenneth Azukwe, the Zonal Director of NAFDAC, she noted that the destroyed products include food items, pharmaceuticals, and other regulated goods.
Adeyeye highlighted the diligent efforts of NAFDAC’s regulatory and enforcement officers in intercepting these dangerous products. She emphasized, “NAFDAC is committed to ensuring that only quality and safe food, drugs, cosmetics, medical devices, chemicals, and packaged water are available for consumption in Nigeria.”
She reiterated the agency’s dedication to protecting public health through stringent standards and innovative practices that set benchmarks both locally and internationally. “This destruction exercise serves as a strong message to those who engage in illicit activities that NAFDAC will remain vigilant in safeguarding the health of Nigerians,” she added.
Adeyeye further stated that NAFDAC will continue to enhance regulatory frameworks, improve surveillance, and ensure accountability for violators. Her remarks also acknowledged the agency’s international recognition and collaborations with prominent health organizations, emphasizing its commitment to adopting advanced technologies and fostering a culture of continuous improvement.
