Gospel sensation Victor Thompson has shared a poignant glimpse into his past, revealing a turbulent upbringing marked by loss and hardship. Following the tragic death of both parents at the tender age of 12, the ‘This Year’ crooner found himself grappling with survival. In a heartfelt conversation with Chude Jideonwo, Thompson recounted his journey, disclosing how he resorted to selling weed, alcohol, and cigarettes to make ends meet.
“During that period, I juggled multiple jobs, from hawking sachet water during the day to engaging in vulcanizing and shoe-making,” Thompson recalled. “But as night fell, I would transition to my makeshift shop near a brothel, catering to the needs of sex workers by supplying alcohol, weed, and cigarettes.”
Reflecting on the loss of his parents, Thompson recounted the upheaval that followed, with his aunts expelling him and his siblings from their family home. Forced to find shelter wherever possible, they endured⬤
