Naija News reports that Segun’s mother, Folashade Olowookere, tearfully recounted her son’s plight in a YouTube podcast hosted by Nollywood actress Biola Adebayo. The emotional interview drew widespread attention, including that of Governor Adeleke.
In a statement issued by the governor’s spokesperson, Olawale Rasheed, Adeleke ordered the Attorney General to take swift action to include Segun’s case for prerogative of mercy before the end of the year.
“I have read about this case and, while respecting the separation of powers, I have directed the Commissioner for Justice to begin the process of granting prerogative of mercy to Segun,” Governor Adeleke said in the statement.
The Governor reaffirmed Osun’s commitment to justice and fairness, adding, “Osun is a land of justice and equity, and we must protect the sanctity of life. The matter is receiving my full attention and will be addressed with urgency.
