Gov Adeleke Sets The Record Straight: Retiring Permanent Secretaries Won’t Get Tenure Extension....KINDLY READ THE FULL STORY HERE▶

Osun State Governor, Ademola Adeleke, has made it clear that he has not sanctioned the extension of tenure for any retiring Permanent Secretary in the state. This clarification, communicated through a statement signed by Adeleke’s spokesperson, Olawale Rasheed, and acquired by DAILY POST on Saturday, responds to recent reports alleging the elongation of service personnel’s tenure.

Governor Adeleke emphasized his dedication to the ongoing civil service reforms aimed at ensuring career advancement and satisfaction for all personnel. The statement reminded the public of the governor’s initiation of reforms leading to the appropriate placement of top officials, resulting in the appointment of substantive Permanent Secretaries who had previously lost hope of reaching the peak of their careers.

Furthermore, Adeleke asserted that there are no plans to approve tenure extensions for retiring Permanent Secretaries, as he remains resolute in enforcing career progression within the state public service. Any prior extensions, he clarified, are part of the ongoing service reforms to solidify professionalism, not a state policy, and exceptions are few and targeted at strengthening the public service, given that the reform process is just over a year old.

Governor Adeleke urged public servants to carry on with their regular duties, assuring that the administration will not make decisions detrimental to their career progression and service interests. This statement comes as a reaffirmation of the governor’s commitment to a transparent and progressive public service system in Osun State.
