Gov Bala Mohammed Exposes PDP Plot: Founding Fathers And Top Leaders To Desert The Party

Governor Bala Mohammed of Bauchi State has raised alarms about the possible exit of key founding members and influential figures from the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP), warning that such defections could seriously weaken the party ahead of upcoming elections.

In an interview with BBC Hausa Service on Saturday, Governor Mohammed expressed concerns over growing dissatisfaction within the party. He attributed the unrest to ongoing leadership struggles and alleged infiltration by individuals working against PDP unity.

Referring to the recent departure of former Sokoto State Governor Attahiru Bafarawa, Mohammed revealed that other prominent members are also considering leaving the party.

“Many founding members have expressed frustration with the leadership and administrative instability within the party and are contemplating leaving soon,” he said.

The governor also noted that some disgruntled members are considering joining or forming smaller political parties as alternatives for the 2027 elections.

Appeal for Patience

Governor Mohammed mentioned that he recently met with PDP youth leaders and urged them to appeal to the founding members to remain patient while efforts are made to address the party’s issues.

“If we fail to act, we will play into the hands of the ruling APC, which could lead to the PDP’s downfall,” he warned.

Leadership Crisis and Allegations

Governor Mohammed acknowledged that the PDP’s main challenge lies in its leadership, accusing certain individuals within the party of acting as “black sheep” working in favor of the ruling All Progressives Congress (APC).

“We’ve had enough of these covert operations by some individuals who are allegedly planted to destabilize our party,” he said.
