Gov Okpebholo Appoints Richard Balogun As ESSC Deputy Commander

Edo State Governor, Monday Okpebholo, has appointed Richard Balogun as the Deputy Corps Commander (Operations) of the Edo State Security Corps (ESSC).....KINDLY READ THE FULL STORY HERE▶

The announcement was made on Wednesday in a statement by the Secretary to the State Government, Umar Musa Ikhilor.

Balogun, a retired Chief Superintendent of Police (CSP), served in the Nigeria Police Force for 35 years before retiring in December 2024.

The statement reads: “The Governor of Edo State, His Excellency, Senator Monday Okpebholo, has approved the appointment of Richard Balogun as the Deputy Corps Commander (Operations) of the Edo State Security Corps.

“Until his appointment, Balogun dedicated 35 years to the Nigeria Police Force, where he retired honorably as a Chief Superintendent of Police (CSP) in December 2024.

“This appointment takes immediate effect.”

Governor Okpebholo had previously lifted the ban on the state’s security outfit, which was imposed by Inspector-General of Police, Kayode Egbetokun, during the last governorship election.

He emphasized that the move is part of a broader strategy to enhance security in the state and ensure the protection of its citizens.
