Gov. Otti Fires Back: ‘Abure Is Out, I’m Staying With LP

The Governor of Abia State, Alex Otti, has firmly stated that he will not be leaving the Labour Party (LP) for any other political party. In an interview with Arise News, Otti clarified that Abure could no longer claim to be the party’s chairman, citing the Supreme Court’s clear ruling on the matter.

“Today, we’ve fought and reclaimed Labour Party,” Otti said. “Once you read the Supreme Court judgement, you will see that Abure is just making empty claims. He is out. Anyone can declare themselves President of Nigeria, but that doesn’t make it true,” Otti added.

When asked if he would leave LP, Otti responded with a firm no. He reflected on his past experiences in the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP), All Progressives Grand Alliance (APGA), and the All Progressives Congress (APC), but reaffirmed that it was the Labour Party that brought him to power.

“I’ve been in PDP, APGA, and APC, but it is Labour that brought me to power,” he stated.

He also spoke against the idea that everyone must align with the ruling party, stressing that democracy allows for multiple party choices, citing President Bola Tinubu’s journey from AD, AC, and ACN to APC as an example.
