Gov. Yusuf Reinstates Deposed Emir Of Gaya, Announces New Emir Appointments

Kano State Governor Abba Kabir Yusuf has authorized the appointment of second-class emirs for the Gaya, Karaye, and Rano Emirates. The appointments follow swiftly after Governor Yusuf signed into law a bill creating these emirates less than 24 hours earlier. Aliyu Ibrahim Abdulkadir Gaya, reinstated as Emir of Gaya, heads the list of newly appointed emirs. Muhammad Maharaz Karaye, formerly District Head of Rogo, assumes the role of Emir of Karaye, while Muhammad Isa Umar, previously the district head of Bunkure, is now Emir of Rano.

Governor Yusuf conveyed his congratulations to the new emirs and urged them to safeguard the cultural heritage, peace, and unity of their respective emirates. All appointments take immediate effect.

In related news, Governor Yusuf signed the Kano State Emirate Council Establishment Bill 2024 into law after its passage by the State House of Assembly and subsequent transmission. The law creates second-class Emirate Councils in Rano, Gaya, and Karaye, complementing the first-class emirate in Kano. Governor Yusuf emphasized that the legislation aims to enhance governance at the grassroots level while preserving the region’s rich cultural values and traditions.
