Government Introduces Innovative Software To Attract Investment In Nigeria’s Mineral Sector....KINDLY READ THE FULL STORY HERE▶

The Nigerian Minerals Resource Decision Support System (DSS) was officially introduced by the Minister of Solid Minerals Development, Dr. Dele Alake, in Abuja. This software, aimed at aiding investors in the sector, serves as a comprehensive platform offering credible information on Nigeria’s mineral resources, facilities, and infrastructure, all in one place.

The establishment of the DSS aligns with the government’s objectives to create awareness of Nigeria’s mineral potential, ensure transparency in public services, and foster economic development. Dr. Alake emphasized that the software is a crucial component of President Bola Tinubu’s agenda to rejuvenate the solid minerals sector and enhance the country’s economic standing. By leveraging technological innovations in marketing, the software aims to attract investor interest effectively.

Dr. Alake highlighted the DSS’s significance as a marketing strategy to streamline the process of doing business in the solid minerals sector. The interactive nature of the software allows users to access data on geology, hydrology, and urban geography related to mining operations, empowering them to make well-informed decisions and plan investments strategically.

As Nigeria strives to diversify its economy, particularly in light of the global shift towards renewable energy sources, the minister underscored the country’s abundant reserves of critical minerals. He expressed optimism that these resources could potentially surpass oil in contributing to the nation’s GDP.

In addition to aggressive marketing efforts, the government has implemented policies and initiatives to combat illegal mining. This includes the establishment of the Mining Marshal Corp, tasked with securing mining environments across the country, and formalizing artisanal miners into cooperatives.

The Minister of Interior, Hon. Olubunmi Tunji-Ojo, emphasized the inclusive nature of the DSS portal, encouraging prospective investors to explore the investment opportunities it offers. Meanwhile, Dr. Mary Ogbe, the Permanent Secretary of the ministry, urged Nigerians to focus on marketing the country’s mineral resources and remain patient in achieving the desired outcomes, recognizing the inherent challenges in the process.
