In his congratulatory message, Audu urged Ododo to build upon the accomplishments of his predecessor, Yahaya Bello, emphasizing the importance of fostering sustainable peace and unity for the state’s progress. As the Director-General of the Kogi All Progressives Congress Governorship Campaign Council, Audu expressed confidence in Ododo’s ability to lead Kogi to greater heights.

Audu highlighted the significance of Ododo’s victory in the polls on November 11, 2023, describing it as a pivotal moment in the state’s history. He praised Ododo’s widespread popularity and acceptance across the state as crucial factors in securing victory during the governorship polls.

Celebrating the victory, Audu remarked, “Today we celebrate that victory, which marks the beginning of an era of continuity and consolidation of the successful eight-year tenure of former Governor Yahaya Bello.”

Governor Ododo, elected on the APC platform during the Kogi off-cycle governorship election, was sworn in with his deputy, Salifu, at Muhammadu Buhari Square, Lokoja. Ododo secured victory with 446,237 votes, defeating his closest rival, Mr. Murtala Ajaka of the Social Democratic Party, who polled 259,052 votes.

Upon assuming office, Governor Ododo announced key appointments, including Dr. Folashade Ayoade as the Secretary to the State Government. Ayoade, who previously served as the SSG during the last eight years of Governor Yahaya Bello’s tenure, hails from the Kogi West Senatorial district. Additionally, Ali Bello was appointed as the Chief of Staff by the newly inaugurated governor.
