Dangiwa disclosed this in a statement on Tuesday, following the official handover of the properties by the Economic and Financial Crimes Commission (EFCC) Chairman, Olanipekun Olukoyede, to the Federal Ministry of Housing and Urban Development.
The Minister emphasized that the sale of the housing units will be conducted through a transparent and competitive process, which will be extensively publicized and overseen via the Renewed Hope Portal.
Located in the Cadastral Zone of the Federal Capital Territory, Abuja, the duplexes and other apartments represent a significant recovery effort by the government. The statement reads:
“Today, I had the privilege of receiving the diligent EFCC Chairman, Mr. Olanipekun Olukoyede, as he formally handed over 753 duplexes and additional apartments—seized from the former CBN Governor and situated in the Cadastral Zone of the Federal Capital Territory—to the Federal Ministry of Housing and Urban Development.
This handover aligns with the directive of His Excellency, President Bola Ahmed Tinubu, GCFR, to complete these recovered estates and make them accessible to Nigerians through a transparent and accountable process.
This milestone highlights the government’s commitment to ensuring that recovered assets are not neglected but instead converted into valuable infrastructure benefiting the public. The next steps include thorough integrity and structural assessments of all buildings and related facilities to guarantee their safety and habitability. We will also finalize all remaining infrastructure work, such as roads, drainage, and essential services, to make the estate fully operational.
Furthermore, a standardized housing design framework will be established to maintain architectural consistency and guide prospective buyers.
Finally, the housing units will be made available for purchase through a transparent, competitive procedure, widely advertised and managed through the Renewed Hope Portal.”
