These accusations were leveled by the All Progressives Congress (APC) National Secretary, Ajibola Basiru, during a meeting with party members in Osogbo.

Basiru had insinuated that Governor Adeleke was unduly influenced by his family, particularly his elder sister, Dupe Adeleke-Sanni.

He also expressed concerns about increased state allocations without a corresponding enhancement in government service delivery.

In response to these claims, Governor Adeleke, represented by his spokesperson, Olawale Rasheed, characterized the allegations as “reckless, poorly conceived, and entirely devoid of truth.”

He categorically denied the assertion that he was withdrawing N400 million monthly for domestic running costs from the state’s treasury.

Furthermore, he emphasized that he chooses not to access the typical security vote to underscore his unwavering commitment to serving the people of Osun selflessly.

The governor remarked, “We feel compelled to emphatically repudiate the baseless accusation by a former Senator of Osun Central, Mr. Ajibola Bashiru, that Governor Ademola Adeleke expends N400 million monthly on domestic running costs.

If the ex-Senator indeed made this unfounded falsehood, it is both defamatory and reprehensible.”

“There is absolutely no substance to the careless and poorly thought-out statement, as the governor does not draw any domestic running cost from the state’s coffers.

This is a disgraceful fabrication concocted by an embittered individual who continues to harbor resentment over his electoral defeat.”

“As a principled advocate for due process, the governor operates in accordance with the regulations governing public finance.

He willingly forgoes the conventional security vote as a deliberate testament to his commitment to selflessly serve the people of Osun.

We strongly object to the deliberate propagation of falsehoods against a governor whose popularity and performance rating exceed 85 percent.”

Adeleke urged the APC’s secretary to reconsider his path and focus on the positive transformation underway in Osogbo and throughout Osun state.
