The governor issued the directive during a visit to the scene of the explosion at Dikko Junction in Suleja Local Government Area of the state.
He described the incident as tragic while expressing deep sadness over the loss of lives. However, he noted his relief that the disaster did not affect neighboring communities.
Bago criticized the recklessness of some drivers and directed that vehicles coming from the Maje axis avoid Dikko Bridge, instead taking the route under the bridge and making a U-turn.
He also called on the sector commander of the Federal Road Safety Corps (FRSC) to establish a detachment in the area to enforce the new directive and urged transport unions to cooperate with the FRSC.
The governor attributed the frequent accidents in the area to the delay in completing the Minna-Suleja road project and urged the federal government to accelerate progress on the project.
Bago commended the state Emergency Management Agency, Fire Service, FRSC, and the National Union of Road Transport Workers for their swift response in evacuating victims of the explosion.
