Themed the “BUDGET OF CONSOLIDATION AND ECONOMIC RECOVERY,” the budget proposal outlines N94,156,000,000, or 43.39%, for recurrent expenditure, and N122,844,000,000, or 56.61%, for capital expenditure.
The focus of the 2024 Budget is on the completion of ongoing projects and the initiation of new ones.
Governor Buni emphasized that, given financial constraints, the budget prioritizes key sectors and programs directly impacting the lives of citizens.
Reviewing the performance of the 2023 budget, Governor Buni noted a 58.2% success rate as of September 30, 2023, covering both recurrent and capital expenditures, amounting to N94,859,528,492.
Expressing gratitude to the Yobe State House of Assembly for their support, Governor Buni credited the cooperative relationship between the legislative and executive arms of government for the administration’s modest achievements.
The 2024 Finance and Appropriation Bills have successfully passed the first and second readings, with the Speaker of the Assembly pledging a thorough and expedited review, aiming to pass the bills into law before the end of December 2023.
