This request was conveyed during a courtesy visit to the NSCDC Commandant General (CG), Ahmed Audi.

Governor Yahaya, speaking to senior officers of the Corps, emphasized the need for additional personnel, particularly from the Agro Rangers Unit.

He noted that this would be instrumental in managing conflicts between farmers and herders, enhancing school security, and safeguarding lives and property.

The governor emphasized the urgency of deploying additional Agro Rangers personnel before the end of October, as this is when the movement of cattle rearers typically begins, and incidents of clashes may occur.

He highlighted that bolstering security would contribute to achieving food security in the state.

Given Gombe’s proximity to five neighboring states, many of which have experienced crises leading to migration into Gombe, the governor expressed concerns about its population and vulnerability to insecurity.

Yahaya also voiced his concern about the high number of out-of-school children, particularly girls, in the state. He attributed this issue to the closure of several girls’ boarding schools and sought the NSCDC’s assistance in creating a safe and secure environment for learning. He praised the NSCDC as a significant security stakeholder.

Governor Yahaya, who also serves as the Chairman of the Northern Governors’ Forum, assured the CG of the Forum’s continued collaboration on security matters.
