The governor issued this directive following his visit to the area, situated around the Railway Staff Quarters, which is believed to be a haven for criminal elements engaging in unlawful activities.

Zulum expressed deep concern about the heightened insecurity in the region due to the presence of illegal brothels and dens where criminal activities thrive.

He emphasized that the actions of these criminal elements not only jeopardize security in the state but also perpetuate social vices that undermine the well-being of the community.

Governor Zulum mandated that the settlement housing criminals and underage girls involved in commercial sex work must be demolished within 72 hours. Furthermore, he declared that the illegal brothels have a mere 12 hours to vacate the premises.

He also announced the revocation of the land title, which was previously approved for the Nigerian Railway Corporation (NRC).

Zulum stated, “The government has been made aware of the activities occurring here, and this settlement is entirely unauthorized. Acts of violence occur here, and it serves as a breeding ground for insurgents. As a result, I have ordered that everyone must leave this area.

I understand that the Borno State Government initially approved this land for use by the Nigerian Railway Corporation (NRC), but regrettably, it has been unlawfully sublet for various criminal activities. For this reason, the government has rescinded its prior approval, and henceforth, the land is the property of the Borno State Government.”
