Speaking to victims of the recent attacks in Yankamaye village, Tsanyawa LGA, the governor explained that intelligence reports show that 95 per cent of the attackers are Nigerians operating from bases in Katsina State.
He assured the affected residents that the state government, in collaboration with security agencies, is working tirelessly to secure the release of kidnapped victims.
Before visiting the community, Governor Yusuf received a security briefing from the head of the Joint Task Force and Brigade Commander of the 3 Brigade, Nigerian Army, Brigadier-General Ahmed Mohammed Tukur, at their base in Tsanyawa.
Addressing members of the Joint Task Force—which includes soldiers, police officers, Civil Defence personnel, and the DSS—the governor reaffirmed the government’s commitment to supporting their operations against banditry.
“We came here to meet you, exchange ideas, and encourage you to intensify your efforts. This wave of insecurity is new to Kano.
“Kano has long been one of the most peaceful states in Nigeria until these bandits began infiltrating our borders.
“We stand with you. We recognise your sacrifices, and we will do everything within our capacity to eliminate this cancer called banditry,” he said.
