Greenplinth Africa Launches Initiative To Distribute 80 Million Clean Cookstoves To WomenGreenplinth Africa has launched an innovative cooking energy solution aimed at reaching 80 million women in Nigeria. The project, unveiled recently in Lagos, aims to provide 80 million efficient fuel woodstoves for free to women, low-income earners, and underprivileged families, significantly reducing traditional firewood consumption during cooking by over 90 percent.

In a statement, the organization outlined that the initiative involves procuring, pre-fabricating, assembling, and distributing the improved cookstoves, alongside awareness campaigns and user training across all 36 states and the Federal Capital Territory.

The event, themed “A Gender Approach to Clean Cooking Access in Africa,” marks the first time a clean cookstove project of this scale is being fully funded and distributed at no cost to beneficiaries, primarily women and households throughout Nigeria.
