Gunmen Threat Looms: Niger Government Shuts IBB University

The Niger State Government has ordered the closure of Ibrahim Badamosi Babangida (IBB) University, Lapai, following a series of armed robbery attacks targeting students.

Following a spate of deadly attacks on campus, the Niger State Government has shut down IBB University, Lapai. In a Wednesday night statement, Secretary to the State Government, Abubakar Usman, said the closure was necessary due to serious security breaches and the heartbreaking loss of lives.
While expressing sadness over the violence, the government called for calm and cooperation from students and staff.
Usman stressed that protecting lives is paramount, promising a thorough investigation and swift action against the perpetrators, as part of the state’s broader effort to ensure peace and order.
