President Asiwaju Bola Ahmed Tinubu experienced a significant level of victimization, acting as a precursor for the proliferation of smear campaigns and online character assassinations.

He was unfairly portrayed as a candidate  who was physically frail and mentally incapacitated. However, with his electoral triumph and inauguration, this narrative has been unequivocally discarded.

Tinubu has encountered such challenges throughout his career, and they are unlikely to diminish even in his retirement. Therefore, it is not surprising that the Chief of Staff to the President, Rt Hon Femi Gbajabiamila, is currently grappling with formidable obstacles.

These challenges appear to be part of a deliberate effort to not only undermine his relationship with the president  but also to tarnish his reputation as he continues to ascend in the political landscape.

Here is a brief overview of the responsibilities held by the Chief of Staff to the Nigerian President, he has a dual role, encompassing official and political functions. Officially, they serve as the gatekeeper to the President, manage administrative tasks, provide policy advice, and coordinate crisis management. They act as a liaison between the President and government departments.

On the political front, they offer political advice, maintain relations with the ruling party, contribute to election strategies, manage public relations, and oversee political appointments. The specific duties can vary based on the President’s preferences and the political context. Overall, the Chief of Staff plays a pivotal role in connecting the President’s official duties with the political landscape of Nigeria.

The primary and paramount driving force behind the orchestrated campaign to discredit the Chief of Staff is his significant threat, not only to the entrenched political establishment but particularly to the local political elite in Lagos State. His remarkable accomplishments and influential role naturally stir jealousy among those with ambitions similar to his.

Consider Femi Gbajabiamila’s background, and it becomes evident that he could potentially pose a threat to numerous individuals within his political party, the opposition party, and even some government members.

Femi Gbajabiamila boasts a distinguished political career in Nigeria. He first entered the House of Representatives in 2003 and was subsequently re-elected for six consecutive terms. During his tenure, he raised concerns about lawmakers switching political parties, underscoring the potential negative consequences on informed voting.

In the 7th National Assembly, Gbajabiamila held the position of Minority Leader, a significant role.

One of his most notable achievements was his election as the Speaker of the 9th National Assembly House of Representatives, where he garnered substantial support. Gbajabiamila was recognized for his passionate commitment to issues important to his constituents and the nation as a whole.

After serving in the House of Representatives for two decades, he made a pivotal move by resigning to take up the role of Chief of Staff to President Bola Tinubu, marking a transition to a crucial position within the presidential administration.

Femi Gbajabiamila is poised to meet the President’s vision and expectations for several compelling reasons. His proven leadership, deep commitment to constituents, extensive political experience, and endorsement from the President contribute to his potential for success.

Additionally, his alignment with party goals, track record of collaboration, resilience, commitment to good governance, and the responsibilities of his role as Chief of Staff make him a strong candidate to advance the President’s agenda. Furthermore, his ability to withstand smear campaigns and external pressures showcases his unwavering focus on his duties and the President’s vision. These factors collectively suggest that Gbajabiamila is well-equipped to fulfill the President’s vision for Nigeria.
