Street-pop artiste Habeeb Okikiola, popularly known as Portable, has explained why he abandoned his celebrity boxing rematch against Nollywood actor Charles Okocha, alleging that the bout departed from standard boxing rules.

The highly publicised rematch, tagged “Unfinished Business,” took place on Friday at the Balmoral Convention Centre, Federal Palace Hotel, Victoria Island, Lagos. The contest was organised following the controversy that trailed their first encounter, with Okocha disputing the outcome of the initial fight.

Reacting after the event, Portable took to his Instagram page, where he shared a video displaying what he claimed were injuries sustained during the contest.

The singer alleged that Okocha bit him during the fight and also accused him of choking his neck, insisting the encounter turned into a wrestling match rather than a boxing contest.

Portable further claimed he had dominated the bout by landing more punches before the altercation took an unexpected turn. According to him, the alleged biting and choking prompted his decision to walk away from the ring.

He also alleged that several individuals joined in attacking him while the fight was in progress, although he did not provide evidence to support the claim.

Expressing his disappointment, the singer declared that he no longer intends to participate in celebrity boxing matches, saying his music career is worth far more than any financial reward attached to such events.

“They said he eats Molly. He didn’t see Molly anymore, so he ate my back. He bit me. I landed heavy punches on him. Man to man, one person can be stronger than another, and I dealt him serious blows,” Portable said.

“He bit me and held my neck. That’s why I’ve decided I’m done with boxing. I’m bigger than the money. I’m a star. I wanted to finish the fight in one round, but things didn’t go as planned.”

Portable concluded by saying he was unhappy with how the contest unfolded but prayed for God to grant him happiness and continue to bless his family.
