He Wants to Destroy Every Rising Star From The Southeast” — Kenneth Okonkwo Fires At Peter Obi

African Democratic Congress (ADC) chieftain Kenneth Okonkwo has launched a fresh attack on the Nigeria Democratic Congress (NDC) 2027 presidential candidate, Peter Obi, describing him as a “classless” politician while dismissing the defamation allegations levelled against him.

Speaking during an appearance on Channels Television’s Sunrise Daily on Friday, the former Nollywood actor and politician argued that Obi’s legal team should better educate him on the principles of defamation law.

Okonkwo maintained that he had not defamed the former Anambra State governor, insisting that all the comments he made about Obi were published openly on his X and Instagram accounts and are available for public scrutiny.

According to him, a defamation action can only arise from statements that have already been made, not from comments a person is alleged to intend to make in the future.

He also claimed that Obi had already initiated legal action by issuing a pre-action notice before some of his recent remarks were made, arguing that the sequence of events undermined the basis of the complaint against him.

“What I said is available on my X handle and Instagram for everyone to see. Defamation is about statements that have already been made, not what someone intends to say. His lawyers should explain that to him,” Okonkwo said.

The ADC chieftain further alleged that Obi had repeatedly made false claims against him and accused the former Labour Party presidential candidate of attempting to undermine emerging political figures from the South-East.

Okonkwo also expressed support for recent remarks by the Minister of Aviation and Aerospace Development, Festus Keyamo, who accused Obi of dishonesty, saying he shared that opinion based on his personal experience.

Referring to the legal dispute, he noted that the ₦5 billion demand originated from a pre-action notice served by Obi’s lawyers and not from court proceedings.

Okonkwo questioned why Obi had not taken legal action against other public figures who had also criticised him, insisting that he remained confident his statements did not amount to defamation.
