Health Worker Murdered In Niger Wedding Chaos Caused By Hoodlums

A health worker, Umar Mohammed, fell victim to a vicious attack by hoodlums during a wedding ceremony in Niger State.

Security forces in Niger State have been engaged in a fierce battle against hoodlums and other troublemakers wreaking havoc, particularly in the capital city of Minna, where they have been indiscriminately harming residents.

The appalling incident unfolded last Friday in the Gbegenu Area of Minna as Mohammed, returning from his workplace, decided to attend a nearby wedding celebration.

Eyewitness Haruna Aminu, a resident of Gbegenu, recounted the tragic sequence of events, noting that Mohammed had barely arrived at the wedding when a group of over ten hoodlums descended upon the gathering, brandishing dangerous weapons and causing chaos.

“Umar was attempting to leave the scene of the wedding when the hoodlums targeted him, and one of them viciously stabbed him in the head with a dagger. He collapsed immediately, blood streaming from his wound,” Aminu recounted.

Despite being rushed to Minna General Hospital, Mohammed tragically succumbed to his injuries.

Niger State Police Command spokesperson, Wasiu Abiodun, confirmed the incident, revealing that two suspects had been apprehended in connection with Mohammed’s murder, while efforts were underway to apprehend the remaining suspects still at large.

Abiodun’s statement shed light on the severity of the situation: “The victim was inflicted with serious injury on the head, and he was rushed to Gen Hospital Minna, where he later gave up the ghost and was confirmed dead by the Doctor…effort is ongoing to apprehend the fleeing suspects as the incident is under investigation
