Ruth was struck on August 13, 2025, by a truck reportedly belonging to the Dangote Group near Auchi Polytechnic, Edo State—just six days after completing her studies. The crash left her with critical injuries, including the amputation of one leg, severe damage to the other, as well as head and hand trauma.

Despite medical efforts, the 24-year-old passed away on August 31 at around 6:30 a.m., according to a statement released by the family through their legal team.

Her body was moved from Ebony Mortuary in Ikoyi to the family home in Ikorodu, Ogun State, where she was laid to rest. A viral video from the solemn event captured Phyna surrounded by loved ones, including ex-BBNaija housemates Christy O and Groovy, who offered their support during the emotional farewell.

The Dangote Group, in a condolence message, expressed regret over Ruth’s death, noting that it had settled her medical bills, arranged plans for overseas treatment, and extended financial assistance to the family.

Nevertheless, the tragedy has ignited public outrage, with calls for accountability and stronger measures to prevent such avoidable road accidents.
