The veteran Nigerian comedian noted that while Kirk’s assassination is a tragic development, the situation could have carried even greater negative consequences if the assailant had been Black or Brown.
Alibaba admitted he felt an indescribable sense of relief upon learning that the prime suspect was not a Black man.
Investigations have so far revealed the alleged shooter to be 22-year-old Tyler Robinson from Utah.
Robinson hails from a staunchly conservative, pro-gun family. He once dressed up in a Donald Trump costume for Halloween and grew up in a Republican household. His parents, Amber Denise Robinson and Matthew Carl Robinson, are both registered Republicans, just like Kirk.
Although Tyler himself was registered as a nonpartisan voter in Utah—classified as “inactive” due to not participating in the last two general elections—reports suggest he became increasingly political in recent years.
During a family dinner, Robinson allegedly lashed out at Kirk, accusing him of “spreading hate” and being “full of hate.”
Academically, Robinson was considered gifted. He earned a 34 on the ACT, one of the highest scores possible, and briefly attended Utah State University on a scholarship in 2021 before dropping out after just one semester.
