The primary suspect, 22-year-old Ismail Adamu, was arrested after the victim’s father received a ransom demand of N4 million. Adamu confessed to conspiring with an accomplice named Risi, abducting the boy, and later stabbing him in the neck before dumping his body in a soakaway pit at an unfinished building in Sabuwar Zara village.
Two additional suspects, Musa Usman, 17, and Abdullahi Usman, 20, were arrested for aiding Adamu in negotiating the ransom. All three suspects were neighbors of the victim. The police launched an investigation following a report from the boy’s father about the kidnapping and ransom demand.
The Anti-Kidnapping Unit of the Command successfully rescued the victim after apprehending Adamu. The crime scene was inspected, and the deceased’s body was recovered from the soakaway and taken to Abdullahi Wase Specialists Hospital Kano, where a medical doctor confirmed his death.
The Commissioner of Police, CP Mohammed Usaini Gumel, FIPMA, psc, praised the public for their support and emphasized the police’s commitment to combating crime in the state.
