Amidst the somber atmosphere of the funeral service for late Access Holdings CEO Herbert Wigwe, tragedy struck once again as his father, Shyngle Wigwe, collapsed and was promptly rushed to a nearby hospital for urgent medical attention. The distressing incident was brought to light by Tony Ogbuagu, a prominent influencer on X (formerly Twitter), who swiftly clarified that the elder Wigwe had not passed away, dispelling rumors to the contrary. The heart-wrenching turn of events occurred as dignitaries, guests, and hundreds of mourners congregated at the Redeemed Christian Church of God in Isiokpo, Ikwerre Local Government Area of Rivers State, to pay their final respects to Herbert Wigwe, his wife, Doreen, and their son, Chizzy, who tragically lost their lives in a helicopter crash. SaharaReporters had previously disclosed that the family was laid to rest on March 9, 2024, following a joint funeral service at the RCCG Lion of Judah Parish in Isiokpo.
Wigwe and his family members met their untimely demise when the helicopter they were traveling in crashed near the border between Nevada and California in the United States. The fatal accident occurred as they were en route to Las Vegas to attend Super Bowl 58, held at Allegiant Stadium on February 11, 2024. The sudden loss of the Wigwe family has sent shockwaves through communities both in Nigeria and abroad, leaving behind a profound sense of grief and mourning.
