A grieving mother, Shade Silifat Abdulkadir, who tragically lost her three children in a heartbreaking incident, has opened up about the devastating event for the first time.

The heart-wrenching incident occurred on February 25 in Ilorin, Kwara State, where Shade’s children, Maryam (10 years old), Nudrah (8 years old), and Mohammed (2 years old), tragically suffocated in a car parked by their father at their residence.

In an emotional interview with journalists at her family house in Ile Magaji, Taiwo Isale, Ilorin, the 37-year-old mother pleaded with Nigerians, especially fellow mothers, for support during this incredibly challenging time.

Recounting the tragic events, Shade shared, “It happened on Sunday around some minutes to 2:00 pm, shortly after I finished cooking rice for them. It was my second daughter, Nudrah, who told me that she would not eat rice in school the next day (Monday) and that she would prefer spaghetti.

Despite having money in her shop and N700 in her Opay account, Shade found herself with only N200 in cash. Living in the Zango-Kulende area of Ilorin, she operates a shop at Oke-Andi, Zango, selling provisions and other items.

Shade explained, “It would only cost me N200 to go and come back home. So I told my children that if at all, what I have is not up to buying what you want, I have people I can collect money from till I get to the shop on Monday and I left. This is not the first time I would leave them and go to buy something.”
