He’s Just An Errand Boy!” – Sergius Ogun Launches Scathing Attack on Gbajabiamila

A chieftain of the National Democratic Coalition (NDC), Sergius Ogun, has criticised President Bola Tinubu’s administration over the continued retention of Chief of Staff Femi Gbajabiamila, arguing that the President bears ultimate responsibility for the actions of officials serving under him.

Speaking during an interview on News Central Television, Ogun questioned why Gbajabiamila has remained in office despite public criticism, saying the decision reflects the Presidency’s confidence in the Chief of Staff.

According to the former lawmaker, any significant action taken by the Chief of Staff falls under the authority of the President, who appointed him.

“He sits there as Chief of Staff. He is only an errand boy. If anything happens involving the Chief of Staff, the buck stops with the President because he is the one who appointed him,” Ogun said.

Ogun argued that President Tinubu should be held accountable for the conduct of members of his administration, insisting that responsibility for their actions ultimately rests with the Presidency.

Compares Tinubu With Peter Obi

The NDC chieftain also contrasted Tinubu’s leadership style with that of the party’s presidential candidate, Peter Obi.

He claimed that Obi would suspend any government official facing serious allegations to allow an independent investigation, describing such an approach as essential to demonstrating that no public office holder is above the law.

Ogun further accused the Tinubu administration of prioritising preparations for the 2027 general election instead of addressing Nigeria’s pressing challenges.

According to him, insecurity, economic hardship and rising poverty should remain the government’s primary focus rather than political calculations ahead of the next election.

He also argued that the administration could not continue blaming inherited economic problems on former President Muhammadu Buhari, noting that many current government officials actively supported Buhari’s campaigns and administration.

Ogun added that the NDC is developing an election-monitoring system powered by artificial intelligence, which he claimed would enable Nigerians to independently verify election results shortly after voting concludes.
