Speaking on Tuesday, Dugunrawa described the rumour as a testament to Kwankwaso’s enduring political relevance, while firmly dismissing it as unfounded.
He emphasized that Kwankwaso is widely regarded as a politician of integrity and credibility, untainted by corruption or irrelevance.
Dugunrawa acknowledged the long-standing relationship between Kwankwaso and President Bola Tinubu, noting that both men share a deep political history, having served simultaneously as governors and later as senators representing Lagos and Kano States, respectively.
“We are not bothered by the rumour—it only proves how influential and relevant Senator Kwankwaso remains in Nigerian politics,” he stated.
He added, “Our leader, Senator Kwankwaso, is not a thief, not a fraudster, and certainly not politically irrelevant. He is a focused and respected figure.”
“Although the talk of defection is merely a rumour, we welcome the attention it brings, as it underscores his national importance. Personally, I won’t make decisions based on speculation,” Dugunrawa concluded.
